This review is a little harder to write. As far as the campground goes, I was not very happy. We were on the lower loop, where we had very little wifi or cell service for three weeks. In addition, we were directly across from a big pavilion and it seemed that there were parties going on every night. There were much nicer parts of the campground I would have preferred to stay in.
However, it was just moments away from Custer, a small town that we fell in love with. We fell in love with that entire region of South Dakota and even looked at some land. I know that we both are looking forward to going back to that area, but the next time, we found two different campgrounds that we prefer.
In addition to the beautiful State Park and proximity to so many natural wonders, we also ended up tent camping a couple of nights at Lake Bismarck in the National Forest.
One was Custer's Gulch, on the other side of Custer, next to the State Park.
The other one we fell in love with was Rafter J Bar Ranch near Crazy Horse. We loved the island and the 70s sites.
