Wildlife: birds, squirrels, raccoons
Weather: 70s - perfect Time of year: 12-17 Oct
Nearby attractions: fishing, boat rentals, Pensacola
Additional Notes: This was our first time at a military campground and we were impressed. The sites were fully paved with picnic tables and fire rings. The bathrooms and laundry facilities were above par. They did a great job at maintaining the natural surroundings. The sunset views over the bay were gorgeous, as were the dolphins.
Caveat: No wi-fi and we had no cell phone coverage (Sprint). No pool. We had 6 over the air tv stations. Also, if you rent a car, Enterprise will NOT pick you up - it’s too far. On a good note - right outside the gate is a Dollar General. Not only does it have the usual things, but also grocery basics, and BEER AND WINE - at a Dollar General. A little further up is a great Winn Dixie.
Also, while you can make a reservation, you cannot reserve a specific site - they are first come, first served, which I believe is pretty standard for military campgrounds.
All in all, we’d come back in a heartbeat.
