Additional Notes: This was our first time at a state park and it was a great introduction. Oak Mountain is one of Alabama’s hidden jewels. Just miles from Birmingham, Oak Mtn is nestled in several hundred wooded acres. Tent sites were mixed in with rv sites. It was obvious that much care was taken to adjust the campsites to the natural lay of the land and not disturb it too much.
There was no wi-fi, although we had a cell phone signal. TV stations were plenty. Shopping was easy to get to after we picked up our rental car. We’d go back in a heartbeat.
