They've done a lot of upgrades from new campsites to an incredible Bark Park. The Bark Park is divided into six different areas and they were building agility courses while we were there.
The sites are orderly, for the most part, and well maintained, at least in the new section.
The pool area is well kept and they try to provide activities for the residents. From live music to pigeon races to chicken poo bingo, to name a few.
There is a small diner that provides great food on the weekend.
It's on the Suwannee River, so a kayaker's dream. It also has miles of bicycle paths.
It's very reasonable - $290 for the month.
There is a dirt road going into the park and it gets very dusty.
You can't sit outside during the day because you'll get swarmed with gnats. All day, every day.
If you like complete isolation, this is for you. The nearest Winn Dixie is 40 minutes away. If you want to come and commune with nature, kayak, sit by the pool, fish and nothing else, you'll love this place. If you like some sightseeing within a reasonable distance, this is not for you. There is nothing there. except cows.
While most sites are well kept and some even have gazebos, stay away from 215-219. Our site backed up to a huge trash pile and some broken down boats. We also had the pleasure of having neighbors who loved to argue. We were told, after one particularly loud altercation on a Saturday night that this person was to be evicted. That never happened.
The staff in the office is hit and miss. Some knew what they were doing, others did not.
There seemed to be a disconnect between the residents and the snowbirds. On our last night there, while I was waiting to get my diner order, I had to listen to two women talk about the snowbirds finally leaving and giving them their park back. It was very much an us vs. them while we were there. The only ones to speak to us were transients as well.
If you need a cheap place to hide away for a couple of weeks or so, this could be your place. But if you like some civilization and sightseeing, don't linger too long.
