P is for Peace
Picture
Peace is freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility.

To me, peace is more than just being.  Peace is a state of mind.

I have Fibromyalgia.  Everyone's symptoms are different, but some of my symptoms include the usual pain, especially on extreme temperatures.  I am also very sensitive to noise.  I don't do well with a lot of noise, whether it's people, office settings, children's playgrounds, or even loud tv or music.  Doesn't matter what it is - I don't function well with a lot of noise.

What that meant before we became nomads is that I had to avoid a lot of places I used to enjoy going to. Eating out now meant going in off hours, like grocery shopping.  A Saturday morning at Wal-Mart?  Fuhghedaboutid.  I would run out, holding my hands over my ears, trying to prevent a panic attack.

Our nomadic lifestyle means that we can choose we go and where we stay.  We enjoy the quiet parks that are sometimes out in the middle of nowhere.  Right now, we're in the mountains of North Carolina and all I hear are the birds and the rain slowly dropping onto our roof.  This is peace for me.  Peace of sound means peace of mind for me.

What about you?  What gives you peace of mind?

That does sound peaceful indeed - and I'm glad you could find something that works for you. I had Lyme disease for seven years, and I had to learn to avoid a lot of stuff over that period of time, too. Currently I'm sitting at my desk looking out the window at a hay field and just-budding woods. The birds are singing and I have soft music playing. It's very peaceful.

Peace & Priority are both P words.
Change is inevitable.

I am not a fan of crowds but am lucky that I do not have a physical reaction. Ocean waves are relaxing to me but the North Carolina mountains have to be incredibly beautiful.

Emily, I love the ocean waves as well. Being here in the mountains of NC reminds me of my East TN home.

Next week, we head to Ocean City, MD to see the wild horses at Assateague.

Noise drives me crazy, music, too many people talking...but the sound of birds or rain soothes my soul.
It is wonderful that you live a lifestyle that works for you.
