Reflecting on the past

This weekend was a little emotional.  It was the first time we stayed at Whispering River since we started our new journey.  The last time we were here, we were mourning the passing of our beloved Silly dog and wondering what our future held.  Fast forward two seasons, and here we sit in our new Motorhome, which will be home by this time next year.

Yep, we made our reservation today at Whispering River for July to Nov 1 next year.  This will allow hubby to finish working, while I train the dogs (and myself) on fulltime RV living.  I know it will be a challenge - Quincey and Chacho are used to a doggy door and a fenced-in back yard.  We already know we'll have to put up a fence of some kind because I will never be able to handle three dogs on a leash.  Not by myself.  While out there this weekend, we did see one long termer with a pretty nice fence up.  We'll take a long look at that next Spring.

I also spent this weekend rearranging things and putting things where I wanted.  It's finally starting to feel like home.  With my OCD nature, I needed to really find a place for everything and I'm almost there.  One of the things we agreed on was the need for an office chair with wheels, instead of the fold up chair the rig came with. So, Amazon to the rescue, once again.  We found a nice, smaller one on clearance and it will be here tomorrow!

We had ordered a small glass table, hoping to use it between the two recliners.  Unfortunately, it doesn't fit. However, it's the perfect size to sit between the driver's and co-pilot's seat for me to use as a laptop table.  I even managed to velcro a power strip from my side of the seat to charge my laptop and phone.  Win!

I also cleaned out the cabinet in the dining room and moved cleaning supplies - dusters, etc. to the bathroom and that cleared out a shelf for me that I'll be able to use for a small toaster oven and George Foreman grill, since I've decided that I can't live without them.  I've been wondering where to put my recipe book - in the storage compartment of my dining chairs!  Perfect!

The dining room cabinet also hosts all our office supplies in a nice open container that I can see into and find what I need easily.  Dave also hung up my little owl jewelry hanger as well the magnets to hold the TV door closed.  Got our closets and drawers organized and I've even got a little power strip next to my end table so I can hook up my little fan and kindle.

Sunday evening gave us a taste of what we hope will be many more perfect evenings.  The heat of the day had cooled off with a wonderful breeze blowing through the trees.  The ducks were honking overhead as they flew their perfect formations.  The smell and crackle of a perfect campfire gave us utter peace.  The moon peeking through some clouds, and the sounds of silence rounded off a great day.

Our Simple Life.  I love it.
