While it's very depressing to winterize Lulu, I'm trying to remind myself that this will be the last winter we'll have to do this.
While hubby expects to quit working in October next year, we'll be here until mid-November because of our veterans obligations and the wedding of our son. But I hope to be moved into Lulu by April, if possible. We want to take advantage of the Spring housing boom to sell the house.
We have our reservations at Misty River campground, about 15 minutes from the house. We'll spend the summer and fall there to prepare ourselves and the dogs for fulltiming. One little detail that hubby mentioned this morning is that I need to make sure that we can get mail there. I'm sure we can, but I'll be making a phone call this week to confirm.
We're also taking Lulu to the dealer on Dec 12 for a recall, some warranty work and a few other things we want to get done before leaving. We're having the Blue Ox tow package and Patriot Brake system put in. Additionally, we're having our ladder replaced, an RSS anti sway bar and reflex steering stabilizer put in for better steering and less sway on the road. Lastly, we're having them install an auto generator switch, so if the temp in the rig goes above or below a certain temp because of power outages, the generator will automatically kick on. We feel this is important for the dogs and our own peace of mind, since you never know when a power outage may occur.
I ordered a small 18 inch Christmas tree that will fit in our storage and will sit on the dashboard during the holidays. Our ornaments are miniature and I think will be a perfect addition. I also ordered new dishes and few other things for inside.
That's it for Lulu. Now it's time to focus on the house. Emptying it out and getting it ready to sell. ridding ourselves of 28 years worth of stuff is not easy, but it's been easier for me than hubby. We've bought containers for Lulu and have estimated how much stuff we can bring from the house. Just small, sentimental things. The rest, we're taking pictures of.
I'm also making sure to visit places I want to see and meeting with friends that I will miss. This helps to put closure on our leaving and actually makes it easier.
