Today, the high is 77 and partially sunny, so we decided to go to the Pensacola Beach Pier and do some fishing.  Lunch first at Crabs on the Beach, which was just as great as when I went last year with my friend, Janey.  There's something about sitting at a table on the beach, listening to Christmas music that just makes me smile.

After a scrumptious lunch, it was off to the Pier.  You pay to go on the pier, either to fish or walk, and in return you don't have to have a fishing license.  A military fishing permit was $6.50.

The pier stretches out across the emerald green waters over 1470 Feet beyond 2 sand bars.  The pier is also the vantage point for some of the greatest sunsets on Pensacola Beach! From here, you can watch marine life, surfing as well as fishermen and women reeling in their catch.
You can catch King & Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Pompano, Mahi Mahi, Flounder, Whiting, Blue Fish, Tarpon, Bonito, Red Fish just to name a few. In the winter, you can also catch many nice red fish and sheephead around the pier. Several Sailfish weighing 50 pounds or more has also been caught off the end of the pier when the blue water is in close.

We only caught barnacle fish, but it was great, just the same.

Went to Bayview Dog Beach today in Pensacola.  It was great because it's off-leash, so the kids could have some fun....not so much.  Too many hyper big dogs that scared them, so we ended up going into the little dog park next door.

​It's going to take some time for them to feel more comfortable around other dogs and not be scared, but we'll keep taking them every week to get them acclimated.
