First up were the flamingos. Not only were they as beautiful and colorful as ever, but we were also given the opportunity to feed them. They were so soft and loveable!
Yesterday was a fun day, spent in the company of friends Karen and Anne. We spent the day at Bush Gardens in Tampa and loved all the animal conservancy efforts. None of us wanted to ride the roller coasters, so we spent our day with the animals. Bush Gardens really stands above other theme parks with their Ambassador program. These were staff or volunteers who stay near several of the animal exhibits andshare great tidbits of information. We were also able to feed several of the animals and interact with them in ways one normally wouldn't be able to. First up were the flamingos. Not only were they as beautiful and colorful as ever, but we were also given the opportunity to feed them. They were so soft and loveable! Next up, the American Alligator. Although they scare me somewhat, it's fascinating to watch them in the water. Then came the Chimps, orangutans and gorilla. I'm constantly amazed at how intelligent they are. If some of these chimps look like they're statues, it's because they are. Bush Gardens has an incredible array of statuary that look svery life-like. We were lucky enough to get to the Elephant enclosure just as the staff were feeding them and doing a little training. Our next stop was a special behind the scenes tour of the Serengeti Safari, where we were fortunate to be able to feed the giraffes. We also saw a black and several white rhinos, wildbeests, impallas and two types of zebras. At this point, our feet were aching, so a tour of the park via the Skyway seemed to be the perfect solution. One of our last stops was through the Bird Sanctuary where we saw dozens of brilliantly colored birds. They were so friendly that they sat on hands and even heads! Our last animals stop was to see the Kangaroos and Wallabys. Most were taking naps. Smart kangas! Just a few miscellaneous pictures of the park and their wonderful architecture and themes Our last stop turned out to be our best adventure. On the way out we decided to have some ice cream, which we ate at a table outside. Before long, we had an unexpected visitor, who took part of the ice cream cone right out of Anne's hands. The look on her face was priceless. It was such a great day and made even better bu being able to share it with Karen and Anne. Karen, I'm so glad you came down to visit. Anne, I'm so glad you came with us on this adventure.
