One of the top areas in San Antonio is the Pearl District's Farmer's Market on Saturday and Sunday. Veggies, breads, cheeses, wine, Indian and Hispanic foods, craft brewed beers, wines, and some of the best fruit we have ever eaten. There was live music and the area is dog friendly. The market is centered in the middle of shops and restaurants all within the old brewery itself.
The Pearl Brewery has been refurbished into a farmers market and high end apartments and shops. There is a bookstore, dogs are welcome, live entertainment, a LOT of places to eat. I even watched a Yoga class going on, in addition to kids running through the water. The CIA (Culinary Institute of America) has a campus and they participate in cooking local samples. I also had a seasonal Fall Sangria made with Chardonnay and apples.
Dave bought some wild boar and fresh goat cheese, while I was very happy to find some freshly made Naan bread, one of my favorite Indian staples. That'll be my dinner tomorrow with some Tikki Masala.
We took the kids, in their stroller, because I knew it would be crowded, and they were stars. Every couple of steps I had to stop so they could be petted and loved on. It was a hardship for them, that's for sure :)
